A local, non-profit cultural institution, Design Museum of Chicago strives to meet people where they are, facilitating conversations around design comprised of a variety of voices, backgrounds, and viewpoints. To do so, they will need to fulfill the number of hours in the Museum required for credit at their home institutions and any additional requirements, such as paper assignments, to qualify for that credit. A limited amount of funding is available for travel assistance and may be awarded to accepted students who would not otherwise be able to take advantage of this opportunity.The Andrew W. Mellon Summer Internship Program at the RISD Museum is made possible by an endowment from the Andrew W. The Chicago design community is a critical part of our history, as well as our future.We believe design has the fundamental capacity to improve the human condition, and strive to make it accessible to everyone through free exhibitions in a public space in the Chicago Loop. A common internship offered in the Netherlands is a so-called “afstudeerstage”, where an internship is often combined with a bachelor or master thesis.
